Find out more about
Dracula Castle

Inaugurated on 1 December 2023, Dracula Castle is a must-see on the itinerary of every tourist in search of the truth about Vlad Tepes. With soaring towers and ramparts, this medieval fortress takes you back in time, offering a glimpse into the region's tumultuous history.

Dracula Castle is the first major permanent exhibition dedicated to the great Romanian voivode.
Spread over 3 floors, Dracula Castle offers a unique experience that includes film screenings, an exhibition of documents and objects (replicas) from the time of Vlad Țepeș, a reconstruction with mannequins of the Throne Room and the famous scene in which the Vodă responds to the defiant Turkish sol sol sol, an exhibition of graphics signed Valentin Tănase and a series of photographs recreating key moments in the life of the voivode.

Dracula's castle is shrouded in mystery about the ruler Vlad Tepes, known as "Dracula". Vlad Tepeș was a military genius and turned even Sultan Mohammed, who said he could not take the country from a lord who did such great things, off his feet. The Irish writer's novel portrayed Vlad Tepes in a dark aura.

Vlad Tepeș is the only ruler in history who attacked the Ottomans encamped in the Danube fortresses, terrorised them with lightning attacks at night and the only prince in history who disguised himself and went into the Ottoman camp with the thought of capturing the Sultan himself.

At the castle we have put all our skill and skilfulness to show you the documents and evidences that reveal the truth about Vlad Țepeș - the military genius.

Exhibits include: Vlad's sword, the seal - the only reproduction, the Order of the Dragon and many others.

A visit to Dracula's Castle offers the opportunity to learn the truth about the most fierce warlord of these lands, to learn more legends and stories about this marvellous place and to get to know our past better.

Guided tours, special events such as themed evenings or performances with medieval characters will be coming soon!

The origin of the vampire stories about Vlad the Impaler appears to be the novel by Irish writer Bram Stoker, published in 1897. In fact, during his lifetime Vlad Vlad was systematically vilified by his political and military opponents. The Hungarian King Matthias Corvinus himself was personally involved in this campaign of lies.

The proposed films rehabilitate not only the image of the national hero Vlad Țepeș Draculea but also the historical truth

On the top floor of the museum you can see a reconstruction of the scene in the throne room, which represents the moment when the truffling Turkish soldiers came to Vlad Voda to ask for 500 children for their army of jeneniners, in addition to the tribute. Vodă told the guests to remove the turbans from their heads, but they refused, saying that they would only do so in front of the great Sultan. Come to the museum to hear the rest of the story.
